This is an evolving list of the tools I use in real estate and business.
iPhone - I've had an iPhone since 2008. This was my first, and may be my last smart phone. I've never owned a Droid, but I've had to configure them for customers. My initial impression is that Droids are made for techy guys. Apple just has a way of creating products you can look at for the first time and say, "I get it." It just works.
Google Apps - Email, Calendar, Contacts, Documents. Free
It's GMail for business, and here's why I love it:
- My email, contacts, calendar, and documents are perfectly synced between all of my devices (desktop, laptop, phone, etc).
- If my hard drive crashes or I buy a new laptop, everything is instantly on my new computer. No installing software and restoring backups.
- I don't have to buy expensive software. It's all free!
Boomerang - Email add-on. Currently pay what you want
I use this service to remind me when someone doesn't reply to an email within a specific time. It also lets me schedule emails to be sent later.
Dropbox - File sharing, syncing, and backup. From free up to $19.95/month
If you need to share files with a team, send large files via email, or sync files across computers/devices, I highly recommend Dropbox.
Google Chrome - Web browser. Free
It's incredibly fast and easier on your computer's resources. I also recommend Safari and Firefox, but Google Chrome is my browser of choice. If you're still using Internet Explorer (especially version 6), install one of these alternatives and use it here and there until you get comfortable.
Diigo - Bookmarking service. Free
Here's another example of storing data in the cloud (online). Diigo is great for collecting and organizing information from the web. I currently have it installed on my iPhone, iPad, Google Chrome, and Firefox.
Posterous - Blogging service. Free
I know, I know... Wordpress, Wordpress, Wordpress. I do like Wordpress because of the flexibility, and the beautiful websites that are built with it. It's just not for me. I end up spending more time tweaking it, than I do blogging. I don't want to worry about software maintenance. Just give me a place to type :) That's why I like Posterous. It's simple and free, so give it a try!
